Reacticore is an incremental chain reaction prototype about pure Science*

# HOW TO SCIENCE

  1. Use your heat gun to start chain reactions in digital cells.
  2. Collect energy and get additional research budget.
  3. Incrementally upgrade your digital petri dish for bigger chain reactions.

I bought a new Chromebook last Wednesday with an octa-core Mediatek Kompanio 520 and 8GB of RAM but this game still plays very poorly. I had to look up how to collect energy, since triggering its release didn't seem to get me any, and Google overview told me I had to "sweep" the screen, which is nearly painful to do since it seems your game was not optimized to run well on hardware that runs Android apps in a VM perfectly.

This game seems unplayable, and there's no greater reason for it than you failed to optimize it the way a game like PolyTrack is optimized, and I suggest a low-poly racing game is far more complex and demanding than a 2D clicking game.

Did you really take 5 weeks to make such a simple-looking game and not ensure it ran well on modest hardware?

This just feels like a stupid game. Congratulations on frustrating the kind of "gamers" that might be interested. But perhaps the real deficiency is that I'm not running at least an i3 or Ryzen 3 processor to meet the demands of a game that has better music than visuals.

The increased expanded area after nucleus splitting upgrade hurts chain reactions. I maxed the upgrade out after beating the game and saw my earnings drop from ~$4500 to ~$1400. The upgrade should rather start max and decrease area so chain reactions happen more often and continuously.

(+1)

I really like it, well done!

However... my GPU doesn't agree as I have 100% GPU utilisation when running the experiment (not so bad in the other menus). (Firefox, Linux)

(+1)

prob one of the best incremental games out there

...we feel like that's the best compliment we could get. Thank you!

I absolutely love this game, and have an idea for a pink cell that basically explodes anything it touches

Tell us more about that pink cell. Would that be more rare or how do you envision it? :)

(+1)
nice game.
(+2)

I am enjoying playing Reacticore. would it be too much to add a save button or an auto save feature, so our progress doesn't get reset?.

(+1)

If we decide to expand on this prototype we'll for sure add auto save :) happy you like it!

(+1)

wow, this is epic!

Damn, my laptop crashed and it did not save the progress.

Other than that - I really liked it. It’s great that you didn’t add time limit - so a player can take their time choosing where to charge the heat.

Edit: That’s cool you have a survey at the end. Hope it helps you!

(+1)

Amazing that you found the survey, it's really helpful to us!

(+1)

Really top notch stuff

(+1)

I just want to say I really enjoyed the game. Thumbs up!

(+1)

We're happy you enjoyed it, thumbs up right back at ya!

even for a small prototype of a game made in 5 weeks, it's tons of fun and shows a ton of potential for a bigger and better version down the line, Keep up the good work Dev!!

Thank you, that means more than you can imagine!

any chance for a android port?

Would love to do so. Until then you can actually play it on a mobile browser, although it's kinda hard to see what you're doing with the heat gun atm :)

(+2)

BOY HOWDY DO I LOVE SCIENCE

(+1)

Thank you for your contribution to Science*

(+1)

Mesmerizing! Like it! Thanks!

(+6)

Increasing attack area would be nice
Also, I think the increase attack speed is actually a nerf, because it makes it much harder to attack only once at a time, and causes you to waste energy

(+2)

amazing game!! hoping for a full version one day

(+1)

i dont think the "get energy when popping cell" upgrade is working.

(+1)

Is there any way to save your progress?

I don't understand this game, but it's very relaxing; I think I've already "won".

(-22)

ngl this game was ass

(+2)(-1)

SHUT UP IT IS GREAT

but ass is good :p

(+1)

Please add options for sound level adjustments

Is there a download for this? It doesn't run well in my browser, it looks really cool and i want to play it

(+3)

a setting menu for turning of the lines on the screen that i forgot the name of would be nice :3

fun game though!

(+2)

I enjoyed the demo, thanks.

I liked midgame, but late game became boring

(-9)

Nice game! I like the atmosphere.

I also released my first Unity shooter recently: https://joaco2010.itch.io/karsovialast-signal

Any feedback would be awesome.

(+2)

Masterpiece!
Extremely well executed simple concept with great game feel

(+1)

Fun incremental. I do hope there'll be an auto energy collect when you prestige or as a high tier upgrade at some point because collecting energy lategame gets pretty tiresome swinging your mouse everywhere.

Yah, kind of wore the fingerprint off my trackpad finger...

(+3)

You cooked here, there are so many incrementals, first time I see something original. Too short tho, but sweet.

(1 edit) (+1)

To be fair, Criticality by mechabit has a similar concept and was released earlier. But Reacticore is superior in almost every aspect.

(+1)

Oh I see, they did it first. I guess most games are inspired by other games. Reacticore does nail the presentation and unique of the reactions.

Other than the obviously AI generated noted this game is awesome, just like maybe expand abit on the notes.

(+4)

Awesome that you enjoyed it, thanks for helping us do more Science*!

We didn't use any AI for the notes, or anywhere else, this was made 100% by humans. We'd love to expand on the notes, but our research budget only lasted for a 5-week prototype (for now) so the notes might be a bit brief.

Oh sorry, its just very similiar to how most ai-generated text comes out. Thats my bad, its an awesome game I can't wait to buy it!

This is a really cute game, and I love me some chain reactions! I was confused for a little bit on how the game worked and what the little green circle filling up meant, but I was able to figure out what was going on pretty soon after

(+2)

Happy you figured it out, exploring the systems is part of the thrill of these games :)

(+1)

I played it blind, and it chain reacted out of nowhere that's when it clicked for me

Great game, but when i close the tab my progress gets wiped. Is there any way to save?

(+1)

Not yet, we'd be adding that as one of the first things if we decide to keep working on this - this was just a 5 week prototype initially. Happy you like it :)

1/5 stars. Maybe try explaining how to "COLLECT" the so called energy because I have tried many times and STILL don't know how to do so. so maybe you could just make THAT a little clearer and obvious as well would be a BIG help. and greatly appreciative. Other than that though. great game. and yes... I stuck on the first one. -_-#'

(+5)(-2)

You collect by dragging your mouse over the energy? oO

(+4)(-3)

Have you never played nor watched someone play an incremental game before in your life before? The game is very easy to pick up. Maybe try experimenting and figuring things out on your own instead of expecting everything to be handed to you.

(1 edit)

have you tried fucking yourself in the ass? Funny. I don't think you have. meanwhile on th the other hand. You don't fucking know me asshole so fuck off and guess what? I have TRIED to experiment. IT. DIDN'T. WORK. Mow. I have waited over a week. but instead of judging someone you fucking don't know you fucking little kid. KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT! oh and P/S It still didn't work for me.

(+2)

A satisfying representation of radiation particles in action gamified in such a way that it feels effortless to implement and progress. Watching the cascading reactions is music to my ears and a sheer delight to the eyes.

(+3)

I have played dozens of incrementals, and this may be my top 3 best incremental ever. Chaotic, thoughtful, and CHAIN REACTIONS YEAAAA

(+3)

We'll print out that comment and put it on a wall somewhere, thank you - it means a lot!

(+2)

Aww :D

(+3)

The game is amazing! When will it be out on Steam??? I want to buy :D and do all achievements. Im trying to make incremental game too and this game is inspiring

(+5)

This was just a prototype, the jury is still out wether or not we'll take it to Steam. We're happy you'd buy it though as this is still only early days for the game. Achievements sounds like a great plan! Good luck with your own game as well!

(+3)

i REALLY liked this game and would genuinely buy if it was put on there, had a lot of fun with it Super epic awesome game
